light up, light up; as if you have a choice

why do we care for everyone but not enough to keep each other together?
why do we get lost in confusion while looking for clarity?
why do we say we're fine when someone asks if we're okay, even though that's exactly when it hurts the most?
would i do something just to give you happiness, just for you?
wouldn't being selfless be the same as being selfish because someone else's joy becomes your own, and that's all you ever wish for?
everyone says time heals everything, but where's that time limit?
why do we have to learn from everything, and not unlearn instead?
if we learn from mistakes, is everything a mistake?
despite knowing what shall follow after a cold January night, is a leap of faith all it takes?
and then, a year later, was that all it could ever take?
does a but matter more than an if, only because the former means something has occurred, but the latter implies that something only might?
what is make believe, and what isn't?
if that was all it took, would you rather choose happiness in your imagination or sadness in reality?
is that why dreamers are over the moon when dreams come true?
dreamers are fearless, but even nightmares don't spare anybody. if it weren't for me, would you leave me too?
what holds you back, and what doesn't?
what makes a rash decision good or bad?
who judges the outcome of everything?
you and i?
that stranger whose laugh i was once so familiar with?
that wonder who held my hand for the first time?
everything is beautiful, but beauty is only within you.
if only happiness lasted forever, we would be infinite.
